University Says ‘Mad Scientist’ Party Is Offensive

In 2015, the five colleges of Claremont Colleges planned a mad scientist themed Halloween party. However, according to National Review, it hit a snag when some student government leaders at Pomona College called the idea offensive.  According to a statement released by student government, “Your disregard of the concerns of the mental health community and their allies trivializes issues that we deem extremely important to our community…Further, the exclusion of the mental health community in the discussion of allowing the event name is inappropriate.”
