Newspaper Editor-In-Chief Undermines Student Editorial Without Explanation
In 2016, a student columnist at University of Maryland published an editorial in the student newspaper criticizing certain claims made by Black Lives Matter, as they relate to policing and police brutality. The student newspaper later added a note to the column saying the column would be kept up after backlash but that the column did not meet the normal high standards applied to the column, such as fact-checking. However, the paper, including the editor-in-chief, never explained what facts were wrong.
